Can working out cause weight gain?

I've been hitting the gym consistently for about a month now, and I expected to see some weight loss. Instead, the scale shows I've gained a couple of kilos. Can working out sometimes cause weight gain instead of loss?

Honestly, this happened to me too when I first started doing heavy workouts. Your muscles hold onto water to heal themselves, which shows up on the scale. Drink plenty of warm jeera water and give your body some time to adjust, it goes away in a couple of weeks.

I totally get it, it feels so frustrating when you are working hard and the weight actually goes up. I went through the same disappointment last year. Please don't lose heart, your body is just adjusting to the new physical stress and it will stabilize very soon.

My son faced the exact same thing when he joined football training. He got so worried seeing his weight increase, but his coach and our family doctor explained it is just muscle building and temporary swelling. Keep feeding them nutritious home food and don't let them stress about the daily scale numbers.

Haan yaar, I started walking and light weights last month, and suddenly gained two kilos! My wife laughed and said it is probably muscle, but I think my body just loves storing food. Jokes apart, it is quite common initially, so let's just keep moving our lazy bones.

I noticed some weight gain when I joined the gym and asked my physician at Max Hospital about it. He told me it's quite normal due to muscle inflammation and temporary fluid retention. If the scale keeps going up for over a month, please consult a good doctor to check your thyroid or overall metabolism.

Bro, chill! It is just water retention and muscle building. When u start lifting or running, your muscles get tiny tears and hold water to repair themselves. Just keep eating clean and dont stress too much about the weighing scale, you are doing great.
