Can wellbutrin cause liver damage?

My doctor has prescribed Wellbutrin for my depression, but I'm a bit concerned about side effects. I read something online about liver issues. Can Wellbutrin cause liver damage?

I read about this online and got so scared because I am also on this medication! Usually, it is very rare, but we should probably get regular liver function tests done just to be completely safe, right?

Dekho, extreme cases mein liver toxicity ho sakti hai, par ye bohot rare hai. Faltu darna band karo aur bas apne doctor ki prescription follow karo. Kuch ajeeb lage toh seedha unhe batana.

Though it's a pharmaceutical drug processed by the liver, major damage is quite rare. If you are worried, keep your liver healthy by avoiding alcohol, eating fresh papaya, and drinking warm lemon water in the morning.

In very rare cases, bupropion can cause elevated liver enzymes, but clinically it is considered quite safe for the liver. Just avoid mixing it with alcohol and make sure you do your annual health checkups.

I had the exact same fear when my doctor prescribed Wellbutrin, and it made my anxiety worse initially. Honestly, my doctor monitored my blood work and everything was totally fine. Don't worry, your fear is valid but you're likely safe.
