Can weight loss help sciatica nerve pain?

I've been struggling with severe sciatica nerve pain for months, and it's making daily activities very difficult. My doctor said that being overweight might be contributing to it. Can losing weight actually help in reducing sciatica nerve pain?

Yes, losing weight definitely helps because it takes the load off your lower spine and sciatic nerve.

Yes, absolutely! I had terrible shooting pain down my leg last year. Once I lost about 7 kgs and started doing basic core exercises, the pressure on my lower back reduced so much. It really works.

Actually, my dad went through this, yaar. The doctor told him that extra belly fat puts constant pressure on the lower back disks. Losing weight made a huge difference in his pain.

Losing weight is very beneficial, not just for your back but also for your blood pressure. Try to combine a healthy low-sodium diet with mild walks, but make sure you get regular checkups to monitor your spine health.

Reducing your body weight will surely help your painful back. Meanwhile, you can apply warm mustard oil infused with garlic on your back for some temporary relief. But do not lift heavy objects at all.
