Can weight loss cure sleep apnea?

My doctor told me I have sleep apnea and suggested weight loss as one of the main treatments. He said it can make a big difference. I wanted to ask, can losing weight really cure sleep apnea completely?

I was researching this for my dad because his snoring is getting worse. Many medical articles say that excess neck fat collapses the airway at night, so losing weight can actually resolve mild to moderate sleep apnea in many cases.

Sleep apnea and insulin resistance are closely linked. Losing weight helps both, but you must keep your diet clean and low-glycemic. Always consult your specialist to see if you still need a CPAP machine after losing weight.

Yes, it can significantly improve or even cure sleep apnea if the main cause is excess weight compressing your airways.

Sometimes thyroid issues cause weight gain which leads to sleep apnea. I highly recommend getting a thyroid test and consulting your doctor. Proper treatment and gradual weight loss together will give you the best results.

With our hectic office schedules, sleep apnea ruins daytime productivity. Losing weight is the most effective long-term solution. Try meal prepping during weekends to avoid junk food, and aim for a steady 1 kg loss per month.

My husband had terrible sleep apnea and used to wake up gasping for air. After he lost about 12 kgs through basic healthy eating and daily walking, his snoring completely stopped! It was such a huge relief for both of us.
