Can vitamins cause hair loss?

My hair fall has become quite bad lately, and I'm trying to find the cause. I take a few vitamin supplements for general well-being. Is it possible that certain vitamins could actually be causing hair loss instead of helping?

Hey, take a deep breath. Standard vitamins actually help hair growth, but taking toxic amounts of Vitamin A or Selenium can sometimes trigger hair fall. Just stop any random self-prescribed pills and you'll be perfectly fine, don't worry.

I totally get it, seeing hair on your brush can be so stressful and makes you question everything you are consuming. But honestly, unless you are overdosing heavily on Vitamin A, it is very unlikely to be the vitamins. Hang in there!

Completely agree with others, only a massive overdose of Vitamin A causes this, so just stick to normal doctor-prescribed doses.

In my sixty years, I have seen that simple seasonal changes or stress cause way more hair fall than any multivitamin. Eat your seasonal fruits and green veggies, and your hair will naturally stay healthy.

Instead of wasting 500-1000 rupees on expensive hair supplements that might actually harm you, just book a basic 400 rupee blood test online first. That way, you only buy the exact supplement you actually need and save money.

Excess of certain fat-soluble vitamins is known to cause hair shedding. It is highly recommended to get a proper blood test done for vitamin levels and consult a dermatologist rather than guessing what to take.
