Can vitamin b12 cause kidney stones?

My brother takes high doses of Vitamin B12 supplements. He recently had some issues with kidney stones. Is there any chance that Vitamin B12 can cause kidney stones if taken excessively?

I once ignored mild lower back discomfort and ended up in severe pain from kidney stones. While B12 itself doesn't cause stones, taking random high-dose multivitamin supplements without a doctor's guidance can load up your kidneys. Please get a proper checkup.

I had kidney stones last year and also take B12 supplements. My urologist clearly told me B12 is perfectly safe and doesn't cause stones, but high calcium or vitamin C supplements can. Just focus on drinking 3 liters of water daily.

I love eating spicy food and paneer, so kidney stones are my ultimate nightmare! Thankfully, B12 is water-soluble, so your body just flushes out the excess. Just make sure you drink lots of water daily to keep your kidneys happy.

I totally get it, the thought of painful kidney stones can make anyone super anxious about their supplements. But don't worry, B12 is very safe for the kidneys. Just stay well hydrated and check with your doctor if you still feel uneasy.

Before worrying about kidney stones, maybe get a basic kidney function test and ultrasound done. It costs under 1200 rupees in most labs and will give you clear answers instead of worrying about B12 side effects.

When I went for my checkup at Columbia Asia, I asked my doctor about vitamin side effects. He assured me B12 is completely unrelated to kidney stones. If you are worried, please ask your doctor clearly about your supplement dosages.
