Can uterine fibroids cause weight gain?

I've been diagnosed with uterine fibroids, and despite no major changes in my diet or exercise, I've put on some weight. I'm wondering if my fibroids could be a reason for this. Is it possible for uterine fibroids to cause weight gain, or should I investigate other factors?

If fibroids are causing hormonal shifts, it can impact your metabolism. I manage diabetes, so I know how hard weight control is when your body isn't cooperating. Make sure to get a full hormone and thyroid checkup from your doctor.

Keep your spirit high and do not let this worry you. Sometimes our bodies hold onto weight when there is hormonal imbalance or stress from fibroids. Praying for your quick healing, please do consult a kind doctor to guide you.

My daughter faced this and her lower belly started looking very bloated, which felt like sudden weight gain. Large fibroids themselves can weigh quite a bit and cause water retention. Please take her to a good doctor for an ultrasound.

Yes, large fibroids can actually mimic a pregnancy belly and increase your weight. Go to a well-equipped hospital and ask your doctor clearly about the size of the fibroids and how they are impacting your body weight.

Drinking warm lemon water and cutting down on processed food can help with the bloating, but it won't shrink the fibroids if they are large. If you feel your stomach is growing rapidly, you must consult a gynecologist for proper treatment.

I honestly felt so miserable and guilty thinking I was just getting fat, but my doctor explained that the bloating and physical weight of the fibroids was the real reason. Your feelings are completely valid, so please don't be hard on yourself.

As someone who sees these cases often, large fibroids can definitely add physical weight and cause severe fluid retention in the abdomen. It's not just fat. Get a pelvic scan done to see if they need medical management.
