Can undetected cancer cause weight gain?

My neighbor has been gaining a lot of weight recently, and he doesn't know why. We were discussing it, and someone mentioned that undetected cancer can sometimes cause weight gain. Is this something that happens?

Please try to keep your mind calm and don't let fear take over your thoughts. God has given us an amazing body that signals when something is wrong, so trust that. Just consult a good doctor to clear your doubts and stay positive, everything will be fine.

Generally, most cancers cause unexplained weight loss rather than gain, but certain fluid retention or hormonal tumors might behave differently. If you are experiencing sudden changes, please don't rely only on diet modifications. It is very important to get a complete medical checkup first.

Usually, unexplained weight gain is related to lack of movement or metabolic issues. If your doctor says you are medically fit, try starting with a daily 30-minute brisk walk and a clean routine. But definitely get a medical clearance before starting any heavy physical activity.

According to oncologists, while weight loss is the classic symptom, certain ovarian or abdominal masses can cause fluid buildup which feels like weight gain. Also, tumors affecting the adrenal gland can disrupt hormones and cause rapid weight increase. A doctor can easily diagnose this through ultrasound or CT scans.

In my sixty years, I have seen that we often think of the worst disease whenever our body acts up. Most of the time, weight gain is just due to thyroid, stress, or age-related metabolism changes. Don't panic, just get a routine health check done to be sure.

Man, don't read too much on Google, it always shows the worst things like cancer for basic symptoms. I was gaining weight suddenly last year and got totally scared, but it just turned out to be fatty liver and bad lifestyle. Just go to a doc and get tested instead of stressing.

Honestly, even I get super anxious and start googling every small symptom, which makes me think of things like cancer. It is terrifying, I know. Please try to take a deep breath and book a basic health package online, it will give you peace of mind.
