Can ultrasound detect pregnancy at 1 week?
My period is due in a few days, and I'm really hopeful about being pregnant this month. If I am, would an ultrasound be able to show pregnancy as early as 1 week after conception? I'm so anxious to know!

Hi! Actually, at 1 week, it is way too early for an ultrasound to show anything at all. Even a urine test might not show it yet! Give it some time and try a blood test or wait a few weeks for a scan. 😊
I used to ignore early symptoms and medical timelines, which only led to confusion later. At just one week after conception, the embryo is microscopic, so an ultrasound won't show a thing. Please consult a gynaecologist who will tell you the exact week to go for the first scan.
I completely understand the anxiety and the urge to know right away, I have been there too. But honestly, at 1 week, even the sac hasn't formed fully for a machine to detect it. Try to take deep breaths and wait at least 5 to 6 weeks for a proper dating scan.
At one week, the baby is basically just a tiny speck of dust! Even the most expensive ultrasound machine cannot zoom in that much. You'll have to keep your curiosity on hold for at least another month before you get that first little dot on the screen.

From a medical standpoint, an ultrasound cannot detect pregnancy at 1 week because the gestational sac is not yet visible. It is best to wait for a missed period and do a home urine test first. For accurate guidance, please consult your gynaecologist.
