Can twins cause false negative pregnancy test?

My period is overdue, and I've taken a home pregnancy test which came back negative. However, I've been feeling unusually tired and nauseous. My mother mentioned that sometimes with twins, you can get a false negative. Is this true?

Actually yes, yaar. My wife had this issue because the hCG levels were too high with twins, and the home strip showed negative. It's some science thing called the hook effect. Just go for a proper beta-hCG blood test to be sure.

Haan na, it actually can happen! Sometimes with twins, the pregnancy hormone hCG is so incredibly high that the home test gets confused and shows a false negative. It's called the hook effect, ho na. Better to get a blood test done.

Honestly, the same thing happened with us. My wife missed her period, but the home tests kept showing negative. We went to the clinic for a blood test and found out she was pregnant with twins! Don't rely only on the strips.

Yes, high hormone levels from a twin pregnancy can sometimes cause a false negative on simple urine strips. It is just like how our body chemistry can fluctuate. Please visit a doctor for a proper blood report, it is much more reliable.

Oh my god, this would make me so anxious! The urine tests can be so misleading sometimes because of the hook effect with twins. Please don't stress yourself out repeatedly checking at home, just get an ultrasound done to be safe.
