Can toothpaste reverse cavities?

My dentist said I have a small cavity, but suggested waiting to see if it develops further. I've seen advertisements for special toothpastes that claim to repair enamel. Can toothpaste actually reverse small cavities?

Actually yaar, toothpaste can only reverse very early stage demineralization. Once there is a proper physical cavity or hole in your tooth, no toothpaste can fix it, you have to see a dentist.

Don't stress too much about those fancy ad claims! Toothpaste with fluoride can help strengthen weak spots, but it can't magically fill a hole. Just get a quick filling done by a dentist, it is very simple.

I panicked when I saw a dark spot and bought three different expensive 'cavity-reversing' toothpastes. Later my dentist reassured me that early spots can be remineralized, but real cavities need proper dental care.

As someone managing diabetes, I have to be very careful with oral health. Fluoride toothpaste helps keep enamel strong, but it cannot reverse an active cavity, so I always rely on regular dental cleanups.

I was just reading about this online. Apparently, toothpaste can help rebuild weakened tooth enamel before a cavity fully forms, but once a physical hole is created, it cannot be reversed at home.
