Can too much protein cause weight gain?

I'm trying to bulk up, so I've been eating a lot of protein, almost double my usual intake, including supplements. But instead of just muscle, I seem to be gaining overall weight too. Can too much protein actually cause weight gain?

My son was taking too many protein shakes and actually gained weight instead of losing it. Excess protein is still calories, and if your body doesn't burn it, it will store it as fat. Please feed them natural home foods instead.

I understand how confusing and stressful it is when you eat healthy protein and still see the scale go up. It really hurts when you try so hard. Just remember that calories still count, and sometimes we overdo the portions out of anxiety.

Haan na, people think protein has zero calories and they keep eating it. But extra protein can definitely cause weight gain if we don't work out enough to burn those calories. Moderation is important, ho na.

I was researching this and found out that any extra protein that your body doesn't need for muscle repair just gets stored as fat. So yes, too much protein can definitely make you gain weight if you exceed your daily calories.

Yes beta, excess protein is converted and stored as fat if you are not physically active enough to utilize it. It is always best to keep your diet balanced with a mix of carbohydrates, healthy fats, and proteins.
