Can tinea versicolor cause hair loss?

I have these patches of tinea versicolor on my back and chest, and recently I've noticed more hair falling out. My neighbor said skin conditions can sometimes affect hair growth. Could tinea versicolor be causing my hair loss?

No, tinea versicolor is a superficial fungal infection of the skin and doesn't affect hair follicles or cause hair loss. Keep up with your active lifestyle and daily walks, but consult a dermatologist for a proper anti-fungal cream.

No, tinea versicolor only affects the top layer of skin and does not cause hair loss. Try not to worry about it.

I had tinea versicolor on my neck and chest last summer. It only causes mild itching and skin discoloration, never any hair loss. Apply a ketoconazole wash as prescribed by your doctor and keep the area dry.

Beta, this skin fungal issue does not cause your hair to fall out. Keep yourself clean, wear loose cotton clothes in summers, and consult a doctor for a proper skin ointment. God bless you.

Haha, don't worry! Tinea versicolor only likes to party on your skin oil, it has absolutely no interest in your hair follicles. Your hair is perfectly safe from this fungus!

Oh, I panicked so much when I got those white patches on my back, thinking my hair would start falling out next! But my doctor reassured me it's just a surface skin issue and completely unrelated to hair loss. Relax, you're fine.

I was so worried my sweet cravings were feeding this fungus and making my hair fall! Thankfully, a dermatologist told me tinea versicolor doesn't cause hair loss at all. I can eat my rasgullas in peace now.

Tinea versicolor is caused by Malassezia yeast on the skin surface and does not typically affect hair follicles or cause hair loss. However, for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan, seeing a dermatologist is always best.

I recently noticed some patchy skin on my shoulders and now my hair feels a bit thin too. Has anyone else experienced hair loss alongside tinea versicolor, or is it just my anxiety playing tricks on me?

Haan bhai, tension mat lo, tinea versicolor se baal nahi jhadte na. Woh toh bas skin ki thodi fungal allergy hoti hai. Ek baar doc ko dikha lo aur normal anti-fungal shampoo use karo, sab theek ho jayega.

Tinea versicolor itself won't cause hair loss. However, if you are experiencing hair shedding along with skin issues, it might be worth getting your thyroid levels tested, as thyroid imbalances definitely affect hair health.

Don't worry, it doesn't cause hair loss. I tried neem water washes and keeping the skin dry, which really helped clear the fungal patches. But do visit a skin doctor if it spreads too much.
