Can thyroid meds help you lose weight?

I have hypothyroidism and have gained a lot of weight. My doctor prescribed me thyroid medication. I am really hoping this medicine will help me lose some of this stubborn weight. Do thyroid meds generally assist with weight loss?

The medicine helps bring your sluggish metabolism back to its natural balance, which can assist in shedding excess water weight. Combining this medical treatment with gentle daily yoga and mindful eating will show you wonderful, long-term results.

Yes, it definitely helps with that annoying bloating and puffiness once your hormone levels get normal! But don't stress too much about the weight, just focus on feeling healthy and taking your pill every morning.

Think of the medicine as a way to restore peace and balance inside your body. Once your thyroid gland is working in harmony, your body will naturally release the extra weight it was holding onto. Take care and stay positive.

Haan na, after starting thyroxine, that heavy feeling and bloating finally starts going away. But remember, it is not a weight loss shortcut, it just fixes your metabolism. We still have to eat healthy, ho na!

Yes, but only if your weight gain was due to an underactive thyroid. In my case, I lost about 4 kgs of fluid retention in the first few months, but for actual fat loss, you still need a consistent exercise routine and diet control.
