Can the implant make your hair fall out?

I'm thinking of getting the contraceptive implant, but one of my friends mentioned that her hair started falling out after she got it. I'm really worried about this. Can the implant actually cause hair fall?

Keep your mind calm and don't let this stress you, as stress itself can worsen hair fall. Sometimes our bodies take time to adapt to new changes. Drink plenty of water, practice gentle breathing, and consult your doctor to see if your body is accepting the implant comfortably.

Yes, hormonal implants can sometimes cause hair loss due to the progestin hormone, which can have androgenic effects. I went to a dermatologist at Fortis Hospital for my hair thinning post-contraceptive use. They did some blood tests and advised me to discuss removing the implant with my gynecologist.

Oh my god, yes, I have been reading so many forums about contraceptive implants and hair loss, and now I am super terrified myself! Some people say the hormonal shift triggers hair thinning. If you are noticing major shedding, maybe we should both talk to our gynecologists about alternative options, I am so worried for you.

I completely understand how stressful and scary it is to see your hair falling out after getting an implant; it can make you feel so helpless. Hormonal changes can definitely trigger a temporary shedding phase. Please validate your feelings, take a deep breath, and make an appointment with your doctor to discuss this safely.

Before you spend thousands on expensive hair fall treatments or organic oils, get a basic thyroid and iron panel done, which costs around 800-1000 rupees. If those are normal, then the implant's hormones are likely the cause. Planning a doctor's visit to discuss removal might save you a lot of money in the long run.

I was actually researching about getting the hormonal implant recently and came across several reviews mentioning hair thinning as a side effect. It seems the progestin can cause this in some women. Did your doctor mention this risk before putting it in? I am really curious to know.
