Can terbinafine cause hair loss?

I've been prescribed terbinafine for a fungal infection in my nail, and I've noticed my hair thinning a bit lately. My mother-in-law mentioned she heard some medicines can cause hair fall, so I'm a bit concerned if this one is the culprit.

Yes, terbinafine can cause hair thinning or loss in some rare cases, although it's not very common. It usually stops once the treatment is over. If you're noticing severe shedding, stop guessing and call your dermatologist immediately to adjust the prescription.

Haan, actually maine jab fungal infection ke liye ye khayi thi na, toh mere bhi kafi baal jhadne lage the. Pehle toh main bohot darr gayi thi. Phir doctor ne bataya ki ye temporary side effect hai, medicine band hone ke baad baal wapas normal ho jate hain.

I totally get it, seeing hair fall out while you're trying to cure another issue is so frustrating and stressful. Terbinafine can indeed trigger temporary hair shedding in some people. Please don't lose heart, just speak with your doctor about this side effect so they can reassure you.

Baal jhadne ki pareshani is dava se kabhi kabhaar ho jati hai babu. Par aap chinta mat kariye, dawa ka asar khatam hote hi baal phir se theek ho jayenge. Ek baar apne sarkaari aspatal ke doctor se pooch lijiye, wo sahi rasta dikhayenge.

While hair loss is listed as a rare side effect of terbinafine, you should never ignore it. It could also point to a liver reaction or other systemic issues. Please get your liver function tests (LFT) done and show them to your doctor to ensure it is safe to continue the medication.

Yes, it can cause some temporary hair fall! 😟 But don't worry, it's usually just a short-term phase while the body processes the heavy antifungal. Keep drinking lots of water, eat healthy, and definitely give your doc a quick ring to be sure!

When I was taking terbinafine for my nail fungus, I personally didn't experience any hair loss at all. My skin got a bit dry, but that was about it. Everyone's body reacts differently to these strong drugs, so it's best to discuss your specific symptoms with your doctor.

Yes, it can cause hair shedding due to the stress the drug puts on your body. To counter this, I made sure my diet was rich in proteins and micro-nutrients, and kept up with my morning walks. But definitely check with your physician before adding any new hair supplements.

Hello, I am actually about to start this medicine for a skin rash and I am very scared about losing my hair now. Does this hair loss happen to everyone who takes it, or is it very rare? If anyone has completed their course without hair fall, please let me know.

In my years of participating in health forums, I've seen several people raise this concern. Terbinafine can sometimes cause a temporary shedding condition called telogen effluvium. It almost always resolves after the course is finished. Don't worry, but do keep your doctor informed.
