Can teeth heal cavities?

I've heard some natural remedies claim that you can reverse small cavities if you take care of your teeth properly. Is this possible? Can teeth actually heal cavities on their own?

Hey! Only very early stage cavities, which are just tiny weak spots on the enamel, can be remineralized with good fluoride toothpaste and diet. But if a proper hole has already formed, unfortunately, it can't heal on its own. You'll need to visit a dentist to get a simple filling done.

In my youth, I also thought cavities would go away if I just brushed harder, but that is not how it works. Once the decay reaches the inner layers, only a dentist can fix it with a filling. Don't worry, getting a filling is a very simple and painless process these days.

Please don't wait for it to heal naturally like I did. I kept hoping my small tooth cavity would get better with home remedies, but it slowly reached the nerve and became an agonizing pain. I had to get a costly root canal instead of a cheap filling, so go get it checked immediately.

Medically speaking, teeth cannot regenerate once the physical structure is lost to decay. You can only remineralize pre-cavity lesions by tracking your sugar intake, brushing twice, and using fluoride treatments. If you see an actual dark cavity spot on your tracker photos, book a dental consult.

I see this question a lot here. The short answer is no, a fully formed cavity cannot heal on its own because enamel doesn't have living cells to regrow. Just make an appointment with a dentist for a quick filling; it will save you a lot of pain and money in the long run.

From what I understand about systemic health, once a cavity is deep, it cannot heal itself. With my PCOS, I am always careful about inflammation and dental health, so I don't take risks with tooth issues. It is best to consult a dentist early rather than trying self-healing tricks.
