Can sunlight cause hair loss?

I spend a lot of time outdoors for my work, and often my head is exposed to direct sunlight. I've been losing a bit more hair lately. Is it possible for prolonged exposure to sunlight to cause hair loss?

Between work stress, pollution, and now the afternoon sun, my hair is running out of excuses to stay on my head! Yes, excessive UV rays can dry out hair shafts and damage follicles. Best to wear a hat and protect whatever is left of it.

Hey, don't stress too much about it! Sunlight alone won't make you bald, but long hours in harsh UV rays can definitely make your hair dry and weak, leading to breakage. Just use an umbrella or wear a cool scarf when you go out, and you will be absolutely fine.

I understand your concern, sun damage can make hair very brittle. To protect it naturally, try applying a little bit of warm coconut oil mixed with curry leaves before your wash. It acts like a protective layer and keeps the scalp nourished against sun heat.

While daily sunlight provides Vitamin D which is actually good for hair, prolonged exposure to harsh UV radiation can weaken the hair proteins. If you are experiencing sudden, heavy hair loss, it is best to consult a dermatologist to rule out nutritional deficiencies or hormonal factors.

Unless you are planning to sit under the direct afternoon sun like a solar panel for 8 hours daily, sunlight alone won't steal your hair! Just cover up and don't worry, your hair isn't going anywhere because of a little sunshine.

I used to panic every summer thinking the hot sun was making my hair fall out. But then I realized seasonal shedding and dryness from the heat is quite common. Once I started staying hydrated and covering my hair outdoors, the shedding went back to normal.

The sun is a source of life, but its extreme heat can dry out our scalp's natural oils. To counter this, I suggest drinking plenty of water and practicing cooling pranayamas like Sheetkari. Keeping the body cool internally helps maintain healthy hair roots.
