Can sun cause hair loss?

The summer sun is so harsh here, and I spend a lot of time outdoors for my job. I've noticed my hair feels quite dry and brittle these days. Could excessive sun exposure actually lead to hair loss?

Yes, too much sun can dry out your hair and make it brittle, leading to breakage. Try wearing a scarf or hat when you go out in the afternoon. It really helps protect your scalp.

While the sun can damage hair shafts, real hair loss usually has other underlying causes like nutrition or hormones. It is always safer to get a blood test and consult a doctor to find the exact reason.

Strong sun can damage the hair protein, but hair health also depends a lot on your internal diet. Make sure you are eating enough protein and keeping your blood sugar stable, as poor metabolism also weakens hair roots.

In our younger days, we worked in the fields for hours under the hot sun. It can make your hair dry and rough, but it won't make you bald on its own. Just wash it with normal water and apply a little mustard oil.

Yes, prolonged exposure to UV rays weakens the hair structure and leads to thinning and breakage. I always suggest covering your head with a cotton dupatta and using a mild conditioner to restore moisture.
