Can stroke trigger dementia?

My grandmother had a stroke a few months ago, and ever since, we've noticed her memory and overall thinking abilities have worsened quite a bit. It's making us very concerned. Could the stroke itself be linked to her developing memory issues or dementia?

Yes, it is possible and it's called vascular dementia. It is very hard to watch a family member go through this, but please stay patient. Providing a calm environment and lots of love can make a big difference in their daily life.

We ignored my grandfather's minor memory lapses after his mild stroke, thinking it was just old age. I really regret not taking him for a proper neurological evaluation early on. Please get a doctor's opinion immediately to see if any therapy can help slow it down.

Don't go by what people say on forums or YouTube about reversing dementia with magic herbs. Stroke-induced cognitive issues are complex brain injuries that only a qualified neurologist should manage. Book a proper hospital appointment and ask them directly.

Yes, reduced blood flow from a stroke can lead to cognitive decline over time. If their doctor allows, encouraging them to take short daily walks can help boost brain circulation. Staying physically active, even slightly, is really beneficial for mental clarity.

It definitely can, as a stroke damages blood vessels in the brain. Alongside medical treatment, keeping their blood pressure and cholesterol in check through a healthy diet and safe physical activity is crucial. Managing these basics helps protect the brain from further damage.

Actually yaar, vascular dementia after a stroke is pretty common. My friend's grandmother started forgetting names and got confused very easily after her recovery. It is tough to manage, so definitely consult their doc to understand the best care routine.
