Can stress cause upper back pain?

Between managing the house and my kids' studies, I feel constantly tense. For the last few months, I've had this persistent upper back pain, especially in my shoulders. My physio mentioned stress could be a factor, is that true?

Dealing with hormone issues like PCOS, I have realized that my body holds all its anxiety in my upper back and neck. It gets really stiff when I am overwhelmed. However, it is always safer to rule out posture issues with a professional.

My daughter faced this exact upper back stiffness during her board exams last year. We thought it was just her heavy bag, but the pediatrician said it was pure exam tension. Gentle hot water fermentation and light stretching exercises helped her a lot.

Bro, same here! Every time my semester exams are near, my upper back feels like a rock. I literally have to lie down on the floor for ten minutes to get some relief. Taking small breaks while studying is the only way I survive.

Before you spend thousands on MRI tests or expensive ortho consultations, try adjusting your desk setup first. Many times, stress makes us slouch more. A simple hot water bag and changing your sitting posture costs zero rupees and might solve it.

Our bodies carry the weight of all our thoughts and worries, especially in the shoulders and upper back area. Try to sit quietly for ten minutes, breathe deeply, and let go of what you cannot control. Take care of your spirit and the physical pain will ease.
