Can stress cause sudden weight loss?

Preparing for my medical entrance exams, the pressure is immense. My appetite has gone down, and I've noticed I've lost quite a bit of weight in the last couple of months. Is it possible for stress to cause such rapid weight loss?

I have lost almost 4 kgs in two weeks due to family stress and I am getting so worried. Has anyone else experienced such a sudden drop just from anxiety, or should I be running to a doctor?

While looking up metabolic changes, I read that high stress hormones like adrenaline can make your body burn energy much faster, leading to weight loss. It is a known reaction, but sudden drops still need a medical check.

Yes, stress definitely causes rapid weight loss. Try having small, frequent portions of nutritious foods even if you do not feel hungry.

Stress messes up your blood pressure and entire metabolism, which can cause sudden weight loss. Make sure to get a complete health checkup done and look into lifestyle changes to manage your anxiety.

It is completely normal for your body to react this way when you are overwhelmed, so don't panic. Just focus on taking small steps to eat better and promise me you will get a basic checkup done this week to be safe.
