Can sperm cause a false positive pregnancy test?

After unprotected sex, I took a pregnancy test and it looked faintly positive. My friend said sometimes sperm can cause a false positive. Is it possible for sperm to actually interfere and give a misleading result on a pregnancy test?

Absolutely not, sperm doesn't contain the hCG hormone that pregnancy tests look for. Try taking another test first thing in the morning for accurate results.

No, sperm cannot cause a false positive. Pregnancy tests only react to the pregnancy hormone, not semen.

Please don't ignore a positive result thinking it's just due to sperm, because that's scientifically impossible. I once delayed visiting the doctor when I had unusual symptoms and really regretted it later. Go see a gynecologist to confirm what's actually going on.

Semen doesn't have the hormones that trigger those test strips, so it won't cause a false positive. Focus on keeping your stress levels low, eat clean, and maybe do a blood test at a lab to get a definitive answer.

Beta, sperm has nothing to do with the positive line on the kit. Keep yourself calm, drink some warm ginger water if you feel anxious, and consult a lady doctor to find out if you are expecting.
