Can sleep deprivation cause weight loss?

My job is very demanding, and I've been chronically sleep-deprived for months now, barely getting 5 hours a night. I've also noticed that I've lost some weight without even trying. Can a lack of proper sleep actually lead to weight loss?

Actually, I have been sleeping very less lately and I noticed I lost two kilos. I am a bit worried about this. Does sleep loss really make you lose weight, or could it be something else? Please let me know.

For some people, severe stress and lack of sleep can suppress their appetite entirely, leading to weight loss. But this is not healthy weight loss. Doing simple pranayama like bhramari can calm your nerves and restore your sleep cycle.

I also thought my sudden weight loss was just due to stress and poor sleep, so I ignored it for months. It turned out to be a thyroid issue. Please get a proper blood test done instead of assuming it is just lack of sleep.

I totally get how chaotic life can get, and when we don't sleep, we sometimes forget to eat properly too. This can definitely cause sudden weight loss. Try to set alarms for your meals and sleep, taking care of yourself is so important.

According to my fitness tracker data, sleep deprivation usually messes up hormones like cortisol, which often causes weight gain. But in some individuals, high cortisol drops appetite completely. Track your daily calorie intake to see if you are eating enough.

Hey, don't stress too much about it! When we don't sleep, our whole body goes out of whack and sometimes we just lose our appetite. Just focus on eating some comforting food and try to get a good night's rest tonight, okay?

Beta, lack of sleep dries up the body's natural energy. Try having a glass of warm milk with badam before sleeping to calm your mind. If you are still losing weight, please consult a good doctor.

While chronic sleep deprivation can impact appetite regulating hormones and lead to weight fluctuations, unexplained weight loss should always be evaluated. It is best to consult a doctor to rule out any metabolic or endocrine issues.

Man, I wish sleep deprivation made me lose weight! Usually, it just makes me eat midnight parathas and gain weight. But honestly, if you are losing weight rapidly without trying, you should probably get a checkup done.

Poor sleep actually degrades your muscle mass rather than burning fat, which might show up as weight loss on the scale. To keep your metabolism healthy, aim for at least 7 hours of sleep and keep your protein intake steady.
