Can sleep deprivation cause memory loss?

Finding it harder to remember things lately, even simple stuff, is concerning, and I'm always tired from struggling to sleep. My wife jokes I'm getting old, but I suspect it's my poor sleep. Does lack of sleep really affect memory to the point of causing memory loss?

I can't even remember where I kept my car keys or what I had for breakfast because of my terrible sleep habits. Honestly, it completely fogs up your brain. If you want to remember anything, prioritize your pillow over your phone!

Absolutely, deep sleep is when our brain consolidates memories. I used to forget important client details when I was sleeping poorly. My advice is to maintain a strict sleep schedule, cut caffeine after 4 PM, and see the difference in your focus.

It impairs your cognitive performance and short-term memory significantly. If you are working a high-pressure job on 4 hours of sleep, your brain efficiency drops by half. Sleep is not a luxury, get those 7 hours.

Yes, it is very common to feel forgetful when you are sleep-deprived. Your brain simply doesn't get the time to store information properly. Try to rest well, and if you still struggle with memory, please consult a doctor for a checkup.
