Can sleep deprivation cause hair loss?

For the past few months, I've been struggling with insomnia and have hardly had good sleep. I'm also noticing a lot more hair fall than usual, which is quite worrying for me. Could there be a connection, like can sleep deprivation actually lead to hair loss?

While sleep loss can trigger hair thinning, please get a proper blood test done first. Hair loss is often related to thyroid issues, iron deficiency, or hormonal imbalances. It is always safer to consult a dermatologist to find the exact root cause.

Yes, poor sleep raises cortisol levels, which physically pushes hair follicles into a resting phase, causing shedding. Along with fixing your sleep, make sure you are eating enough protein and lifting weights. A healthy body keeps hair strong.

Absolutely, sleeplessness disrupts the flow of prana and blood circulation to your scalp. I experienced severe hair fall during a stressful phase, but daily Shirshasana and pranayama, along with regular sleep, helped restore my hair health.

Yes, stress from sleep deprivation is a major trigger for hair fall. With a demanding job, I've faced this. My advice is to manage your time better so you get at least 7 hours of sleep, and avoid late-night screen time.

Sleeplessness induces a condition called telogen effluvium, where physical stress shocks hair follicles into shedding. My doctor explained that cellular regeneration, which occurs during deep sleep, is essential for hair growth. Prioritize your sleep cycle to halt this.

Oh totally, sleeplessness makes our hair fall out like crazy. But don't stress too much about it, because worrying about hair loss will only make you lose more hair! Just oil your hair, get some sweet sleep, and it will normalize.

Yes, my college-going daughter was losing bunches of hair due to exam stress and zero sleep. I started making sure she slept on time and massaged her scalp with warm coconut oil. Getting enough rest is very important for young bodies.
