Can sleep apnea cause weight gain?

My wife keeps telling me I snore loudly and sometimes stop breathing in my sleep. I've also noticed my weight slowly increasing over the last couple of years, despite trying to eat better. Could these two things be related, yaani, can sleep apnea actually make me gain weight?

Actually it totally does! My uncle had this issue and no matter how much he dieted, his weight wouldn't budge. Once he started using his CPAP machine, his sleep got better and he slowly lost weight too. Take care and don't stress too much.

Honestly, yes it can. When I went to Apollo for my checkup, the specialist explained how sleep apnea messes up your hunger hormones and metabolism. Please ask your doctor clearly to get a proper sleep study done.

I ignored my snoring and weight gain for three years thinking it was just work stress, and I really regret it now. My health got so bad before I finally got tested. Please don't delay, go get a sleep study done as soon as possible.

It definitely has a connection, but please don't self-diagnose or ignore this. Sleep issues can put a lot of pressure on your heart. It is always safer to consult a pulmonologist and get a proper sleep test done.

Yes, sleep apnea disturbs hormones like ghrelin which make you crave heavy carbs and sweets during the day. Even if you eat clean vegetarian ghar ka khana, poor sleep will stall your weight loss. Try to fix your sleep routine alongside eating light dinner.
