Can sjogren's cause weight gain?

Recently diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome, I've also noticed that I've been slowly gaining weight since then. I'm wondering if there's any connection between Sjogren's and weight gain?

Yes, Sjogren's can lead to weight gain, often due to medications like steroids or reduced activity from chronic fatigue. Staying hydrated helps manage the dryness and bloating.

It can indeed! Sjogren's makes your body tired, so working out gets tough, plus some medications can cause water retention. Just take it easy on yourself and take one day at a time! 🌸

My rheumatologist explained that Sjogren's itself doesn't directly cause weight gain, but the chronic joint pain and fatigue make you less active, and corticosteroids prescribed for inflammation can increase appetite and fluid retention.

Beta, with chronic conditions like Sjogren's, the body's digestion can slow down. Focus on eating light, warm foods and drinking warm water throughout the day to keep your digestion active and healthy.

I was reading about this because my aunt has Sjogren's. It seems like the constant fatigue makes it really hard to hit the gym or stay active, which naturally leads to gaining some weight.
