Can sjögren's cause weight gain?

My sister has Sjögren's syndrome, and she's been struggling with unexplained weight gain. She wants to know if this condition can actually be a reason for increasing weight?

Haan na, Sjogren's is so tricky. The medication side effects and the constant body fatigue make it very hard to maintain weight, so gaining a few kilos is actually quite common.

I was recently diagnosed with Sjogren's and I've noticed I'm gaining weight even though my diet is the same... Is this because of the thyroid being affected, or is it just the autoimmune condition itself?

My doctor at the clinic explained that weight changes in Sjogren's are often secondary. Chronic pain limits physical exercise, and common treatments like prednisone can significantly contribute to fluid retention and increased weight.

Yes, autoimmune issues can disrupt your body's balance. Practicing gentle pranayama and light yoga helps stimulate digestion and manage stress, which can gradually help regulate your weight naturally.

It can, but tracking your daily calorie intake and focusing on low-sodium foods on your health app can help manage the water retention often caused by Sjogren's medications.
