Can shoes cause knee pain?

I recently bought a new pair of running shoes, and since then, I've started experiencing knee pain during and after my runs. Could my new shoes be the reason for my knee pain? Or is it something else I need to worry about?

Oh my god, yes! I was wearing flat fashion sneakers to work every day and developed terrible knee pain. I switched to comfortable walking shoes with good cushioning, and the pain literally vanished in a week. Please ditch thin flats or high heels for a while.

Absolutely! If your running shoes lack proper arch support, it changes your gait and puts massive pressure on your knees. Try to get your foot posture checked at a sports store. Once your doctor gives the green light, do light knee strengthening exercises and short daily walks in well-cushioned shoes.

Wearing shoes with worn-out heels definitely triggers knee pain. You can try doing gentle knee stretches at home and using a hot water bag to soothe the joints. But if you notice any swelling, redness, or if the knee feels locked, please visit a doctor immediately.

I bought a new pair of walking shoes and my left knee has been hurting ever since. I'm so worried that I might have damaged my joint permanently. Has anyone else experienced sudden knee pain just from changing their footwear, or should I be panicking?

In our times, we wore simple, flat footwear, but modern fancy shoes often ruin the natural posture of the legs. If your knees are hurting, try applying warm sesame oil gently at night and wear soft, comfortable sandals. But do see a doctor if the pain is severe and you cannot walk.

Poorly fitting footwear or worn-out soles can definitely cause joint misalignment, leading to chronic knee pain. However, if the pain persists even after changing your shoes, it could be an underlying issue like ligament strain or early arthritis. Consulting an orthopedician is always the best path forward.
