Can severe dandruff cause hair loss?

I've been dealing with really bad, persistent dandruff for months now, and my scalp is always itchy. I'm also noticing more hair falling out than usual. Can severe dandruff directly lead to hair loss?

Bro, 100% yes. I had crazy dandruff last winter and my hair started falling out in clumps. It happens because the itchiness makes you scratch your scalp, which damages the hair roots. Once I got my scalp cleared up, the hair fall stopped, so focus on fixing the dandruff first.

Severe dandruff can definitely irritate the scalp and lead to hair thinning. Along with whatever treatment you do, make sure you are eating enough biotin-rich vegetarian foods like almonds, walnuts, and flaxseeds. A healthy diet nourishes the scalp from within, but do consult a specialist.

While dandruff is very common, severe buildup can choke the hair follicles and cause shedding. However, hair loss can also be due to thyroid issues or nutritional deficiencies. It is always safer to get your scalp examined by a dermatologist to know the exact cause.

My teenage daughter was losing so much hair because of thick, crusty dandruff. We tried many home remedies but nothing worked until we visited a skin specialist. If your dandruff is severe, please don't wait because it really hurts the child's confidence. Get a proper lotion from a doctor.

Honestly, I just recovered from this exact issue last month. My scalp was so flaky and itchy, and my hair was shedding like crazy. I stopped using chemical styling products and got a mild anti-dandruff wash from my doc. Within three weeks, my scalp cleared up and the hair fall completely paused!

When my dandruff got out of hand, I went to a proper hospital and met a dermatologist who explained that inflammation from dandruff weakens the roots. They prescribed a specific medicated shampoo that worked wonders. Don't waste time on random oils; ask a specialist clearly for a clinical solution.

I have dealt with stubborn seborrheic dermatitis for years, and it definitely triggers hair fall if left untreated. My tip is to avoid hot water on your scalp and stop oiling your hair heavily, as oil actually feeds the dandruff fungus. Use a ketoconazole shampoo twice a week as advised by a doctor.
