Can seltzer water cause weight gain?

I drink a lot of seltzer water throughout the day to stay hydrated and avoid sugary drinks. My gym instructor casually mentioned that carbonated water can sometimes contribute to weight gain. Is this something I need to be concerned about?

I track all my calories on HealthifyMe and plain seltzer logs as absolute zero. Just make sure the label doesn't say 'tonic water' or have added corn syrup. Those hidden carbs can ruin your daily calorie deficit target.

I used to ignore my sudden weight changes and blamed it on random drinks like seltzer. Turned out I had an underlying metabolic issue that I ignored for too long. If you are gaining weight unexpectedly, go get a proper full-body health checkup done instead of guessing.

No, plain seltzer water does not cause weight gain. It's literally just water and carbon dioxide. If you are gaining weight, you need to look at your food intake and desk job, not your sparkling water.

Biologically speaking, pure carbonated water has no calories and cannot lead to fat accumulation. If you experience severe bloating or abdominal discomfort after drinking it, you should consult a doctor to rule out IBS or acid reflux.

Managing my PCOS weight is a daily struggle so I'm very careful about what I drink. Plain seltzer hasn't affected my weight or insulin levels at all. Just read the nutrition label carefully to ensure there are no artificial sweeteners that might trigger cravings.

My mother always tells us that drinking cold aerated drinks disrupts digestion and causes weight issues. However, my doctor explained that unsweetened seltzer is perfectly safe. I still prefer to drink warm water mostly, but a seltzer once in a while is harmless.

If seltzer water could cause weight gain, I would be a giant bubble by now! Don't worry, the fizz might make you burp a lot but it won't add inches to your waist.
