Can selenium cause weight gain?

My nutritionist recommended I take a selenium supplement for my thyroid. I've heard some supplements can affect weight. Does selenium have any impact on weight, specifically weight gain?

I was just reading up on selenium supplements and actually, there is no direct link showing it causes weight gain. In fact, because it supports thyroid function, it might even help keep your metabolism steady. Still, it is best to check with a nutritionist.

My son was prescribed a multivitamin containing selenium, and we didn't notice any weight changes in him. It is just an essential mineral that our bodies need in very small amounts. Please don't worry, but do consult your pediatrician or family doctor before starting any supplements.

I have been taking selenium for my skin health for a few months now, and my weight has stayed exactly the same. It is a micronutrient, so it doesn't contain calories that would cause weight gain. Just don't overdo the dosage.

According to my supplement tracker and nutrition logs, selenium doesn't cause weight gain. In fact, selenium is crucial for your thyroid, which actually regulates your weight and metabolism. Just make sure you are not exceeding the recommended daily dose.

I totally get why you would be worried about unexpected weight gain when starting a new supplement. Fortunately, selenium isn't known to cause weight gain at all, but if you feel your body changing, talking to an empathetic doctor can help clear your doubts.

While selenium itself does not cause weight gain, excessive intake of selenium supplements can lead to selenium toxicity, which has severe side effects. Please get a simple blood test done and consult your doctor before starting any heavy supplementation.

I was so scared to take selenium because I thought I would blow up, but after researching endlessly, I realized it actually helps the thyroid! Just make sure to get the dosage checked by a professional so you don't take too much and stress out.

In natural healing, minerals like selenium support our endocrine system, especially the thyroid, which helps maintain a balanced body weight. It does not cause weight gain when taken naturally or in correct moderate doses. Always consult a vaidyas or doctor before starting supplements.
