Can sebum cause hair loss?

My hair gets very oily very quickly, and I often feel my scalp gets really greasy with a lot of sebum. I've also been noticing a lot of hair fall recently. Is it possible that too much sebum on the scalp can cause hair loss?

I was constantly stressing that my oily scalp was going to make me completely bald! Excessive sebum can apparently clog the pores and lead to inflammation, which does cause hair fall. Please don't worry too much like I did, just visit a dermatologist to get a proper scalp routine.

Oh yes, too much oil can definitely make your hair fall out a bit! 💆‍♀️ It basically suffocates the hair roots, but it's totally curable! Just wash your hair regularly with a gentle clarifying shampoo and you'll be fine! 😊

Stress and poor lifestyle choices can affect your hormones, leading to high BP and excessive sebum production. This oily buildup can irritate the scalp and cause hair fall. Focus on keeping your lifestyle healthy and consult a skin doctor for your scalp.

I tried everything from lemon to curd to reduce the grease on my scalp, because the oily buildup was causing severe hair fall. While mild home remedies can soothe the scalp, you really need a proper dermatologist's advice to balance the sebum production safely.

Honestly, I noticed that whenever my scalp got super oily, my hair would start falling out much more during washes. Once I started washing it regularly to keep the oil down, the shedding reduced. This is just my experience, so a doctor's word is best.

I just recovered from this! My scalp was producing crazy oil, and my hair was falling out in bunches. My dermatologist put me on a specific scalp lotion and shampoo, and the oiliness and hair fall both stopped within a month. Go get it checked!

I dealt with an extremely greasy scalp and thinning hair for years. Excess sebum traps dirt and yeast, which weakens the roots and causes shedding. My tip is to wash your hair at least thrice a week with a doctor-prescribed shampoo and avoid applying heavy oils.
