Can scratching your scalp cause permanent hair loss?

My dermatologist told me not to scratch my scalp so much because of a mild infection, but it's so difficult to stop. I'm really scared it might lead to permanent hair loss if I damage the follicles too much.

Yes, if you scratch so hard that it causes deep scarring, it can damage the follicles permanently. It is best to consult a dermatologist before it gets to that point.

Don't panic, permanent hair loss only happens if you scratch so aggressively that you create deep scars that destroy the follicles. Just promise me you won't use your nails anymore. Let's get you to a doctor to find out why your scalp is itching so much, okay?

Chill, don't stress too much! It is very rare for scratching to cause permanent baldness unless you are literally bleeding and scarring your skin. Just get a mild soothing shampoo and stop touching your scalp for a few days.

In my younger days, I had severe itching and worried I would lose all my hair permanently. Trust me, if it is just normal scratching, the hair grows back once the scalp heals. Just don't let it become a habit and get some proper medical oil for the itch.

Nails can sometimes scratch so hard that they cause wounds on the head. If those wounds turn into scars, then hair might not grow there again. Humare yahan ke doctor kehte hain ki scalp ko hamesha saaf rakhna chahiye taaki khujli hi na ho.
