Can sciatica cause knee pain?

My knee has been giving me a lot of trouble, but there was no direct injury. I do have some lower back stiffness. Could my sciatica be causing the pain in my knee, or are these two different issues?

Yes, referred pain down to the knee is quite common with sciatica. If your doctor allows, light walking and gentle hamstring stretches can keep the muscles active. Just make sure you don't overdo it if the knee pain flares up.

Yes, sciatica can definitely cause knee pain because of how the nerve travels. Please don't worry too much. Take rest and try to consult a doctor soon.

My back decided that hurting wasn't enough, so it sent the pain down to my knee too! Yes, sciatica is famous for doing this. Better to see a doctor before your body decides to find another spot to ache.

I panicked so much when my knee started hurting, thinking I needed a joint replacement at a young age. But my physiotherapist reassured me it was just sciatica radiating down. It's totally normal for this condition, so take a deep breath.

I completely understand how stressful this is, because knee pain makes you feel like you can't even walk. It is a very scary feeling, but yes, sciatica can cause this. Please consult a doctor to get some clarity and ease your mind.

Beta, in my experience, sciatic nerve pain often travels down the thigh and settles around the knee. Don't let it scare you. Rest well, avoid lifting heavy buckets, and get it checked by a good family doctor.
