Can scalp buildup cause hair loss?

A lot of product buildup has been noticeable on my scalp lately, and my hair seems to be falling out more than usual. Could this buildup actually be a reason for my hair loss? I'm worried.

Ji bilkul, if you leave a layer of oil and dirt on your head like a cement road, how will the poor hair roots breathe? I used to oil my hair heavily and leave it for days, which caused massive hair fall. Now I wash my scalp regularly; my hair is still thin, but at least the shedding stopped!

Yes, scalp buildup of sebum, dandruff, and product residue can definitely clog follicles and cause shedding. You don't need expensive salon treatments for this. Just use a simple salicylic acid shampoo once a week to clear the buildup, and avoid putting heavy hair gels. It works wonders and is very budget-friendly.

Haan ji, humare yahan kehte hain ki sar saaf na ho toh baal jhadne lagte hain. Excess oil and sweat block the hair roots, which makes them weak. Try washing your hair with mild shampoo twice a week, and don't apply heavy oil on a dirty scalp. God bless you.

Yes, scalp buildup causes micro-inflammation around the follicles, which shortens the hair growth cycle. I track my lifestyle and noticed my hair shed more when I skipped hair washes after sweaty gym sessions. Clean hygiene is key. Try using a silicone scalp massager to deep clean during washes, it really helps break down the sebum.

Don't worry, scalp buildup is very common and completely reversible. When follicles get clogged with oil and dead skin, hair naturally weakens, but it doesn't mean you are going bald forever. Just start keeping your scalp clean, avoid heavy chemical styling products, and if the itchiness doesn't go away, we can show it to a doctor.

I am experiencing crazy hair fall right now and my scalp feels so itchy and greasy even a day after washing. Is this what scalp buildup feels like? Please tell me if clarifying shampoos actually help, or if they will dry out my hair and cause even more hair loss. I am so stressed.
