Can rosuvastatin cause kidney damage?

My doctor recently prescribed rosuvastatin for my high cholesterol. I was reading the side effects list and got a bit worried when I saw kidney issues mentioned. I already have a bit of a history with kidney stones, so I wanted to ask if rosuvastatin can actually cause kidney damage. Should I be concerned?

I have been taking Rosuvastatin for almost fifteen years now for my cholesterol, and my kidneys are perfectly fine. Doctors always check your kidney function through simple blood tests before prescribing it. Just follow your doctor's advice and don't worry unnecessarily about these things.

At very high doses, statins can rarely cause muscle breakdown which can stress the kidneys, but at standard doses, it is highly unlikely. Just focus on staying hydrated, eating a balanced diet, and exercising regularly. Your doctor will monitor your blood work anyway to ensure everything is safe.

Having thyroid issues has taught me to always be cautious about how medications affect my organs. While Rosuvastatin is generally safe, it is always a good practice to get routine kidney function tests (KFT) along with your regular lipid profiles. Regular doctor follow-up is key to keeping everything in check.

Serious kidney damage from Rosuvastatin is extremely rare and usually only happens if there is an underlying condition or drug interaction. A doctor will typically run baseline liver and kidney tests before starting you on it. It is best to discuss your specific medical history with your physician to stay safe.

Actually yaar, don't stress too much about this. My dad is on it and his doctor said it is totally safe if you take the prescribed dose. Just get the regular blood tests done as advised, and you have nothing to worry about, seriously.
