Can ringworm cause hair loss?

I had ringworm on my scalp a few weeks ago, and now I'm noticing patches where my hair is falling out. Is it possible that the ringworm infection caused this hair loss?

Please dont go by random YouTube videos or WhatsApp nuskhas showing onion juice for this. Ringworm on the scalp is a serious fungal issue that can break hair shafts and cause bald patches. Go to a proper dermatologist instead of trying home remedies that can worsen the scalp infection.

Yes, if it is on your scalp, it can cause hair to fall out in patches. Along with whatever antifungal shampoo your doctor gives, make sure you eat a protein-rich diet with lots of nuts and green leafy vegetables. Good nutrition really helps the scalp skin recover and supports hair regrowth later.

Bro, yes it absolutely does. I had this circular bald patch on the back of my head last year and got super freaked out thinking it was permanent. Turns out it was scalp ringworm from using my gym buddy's cap. Doc gave me some tablets and antifungal lotion, and the hair grew back fully in a few months, so relax.

I have been noticing a lot of hair shedding right from where my itchy red patch started near my hairline. Is this normal? I am so worried that this hair will never grow back or that the bald spot will widen. Did any of you face this and recover your hair completely?

My roommate had this last semester and his hair was literally coming out in clumps from one spot. He got so conscious he started wearing a beanie to lectures. But honestly, once he got the right medicated shampoo from the doc, it cleared up and his hair is back to normal now. Don't stress too much!

I was actually reading up on this because my cousin has a scalp infection. Apparently, the fungus weakens the hair fibers right at the root, making them snap off very easily. It seems to be temporary hair loss though, as long as the infection is treated on time before it scars the skin.
