Can purple shampoo cause hair loss?

I've been using purple shampoo to keep my blonde highlights bright, but lately, my hair feels quite brittle, and I'm seeing more strands come out. Could purple shampoo actually be a reason for hair loss, or am I just overthinking it?

My daughter dyed her hair blonde last year and started using purple shampoo, and soon after she complained of dry, breaking hair. It doesn't directly cause root hair loss, but it is extremely drying and can cause the hair shaft to break off easily. I advised her to use a deep conditioning mask right after and limit the shampoo to once a week.

Yes, I agree that dryness is the main culprit here. Try switching to a sulfate-free purple shampoo and always follow up with a good hydrating conditioner to prevent breakage.

I tried so many home remedies like dahi and onion juice when my colored hair started thinning after using harsh shampoos. Purple shampoo has heavy pigments that can dry out the scalp if left on for too long. Try balancing it by massaging a bit of warm almond oil onto your scalp a few hours before washing.

Oh don't stress too much, babe! Purple shampoo won't make your hair fall out from the roots, it just lacks moisture and makes the hair a bit brittle. Just cut down its usage to once in ten days and pamper your hair with some nice serum. Your hair will be absolutely fine!

I got grey highlights recently and tried purple shampoo, but it made my hair feel like broomsticks and I noticed more strands in the drain. It's just breakage because the stuff is super harsh on bleached hair. I stopped using it every day and now my hair is back to normal.
