Can psyllium husk cause weight gain?

I've started taking psyllium husk every day for better digestion, as advised by a friend. But I'm also trying to lose weight, and now I'm worried if adding this fiber could actually cause me to gain weight instead.

No, psyllium husk (Isabgol) does not cause weight gain as it is almost entirely indigestible fiber with zero net calories. Don't believe random fitness videos claiming it makes you fat. However, if you buy flavored, sugar-sweetened packaged versions, those extra sugars can cause weight gain, so check with your doctor first.

Usually it doesn't, but if you don't drink enough water with it, it can cause severe bloating and constipation, making you feel heavy and gain temporary water weight. I faced a major stomach blockage because of this, so please consult a doctor on the right way and dosage to take it.

Bro, honestly, Isabgol is just pure fiber, so there's no way it's gonna make u gain weight unless you are mixing it with sweetened juices or milkshakes. It actually keeps u full so you end up eating less junk, which is great for weight loss.

In my experience, psyllium husk actually helps in weight management by keeping your gut clean and making you feel full for longer. It is a natural fiber that aids elimination. Just remember to drink a full glass of water right after taking it to keep the body's internal channels smooth.

I know how frustrating it is when you are trying so hard to manage your weight and suddenly feel bloated and heavy after taking something healthy. I felt really defeated when Isabgol made my stomach swell up initially. But it was just temporary bloating, and once my body adjusted, it actually helped me feel lighter.

No, it doesn't cause weight gain because it has virtually no calories. Just make sure you take it with plenty of water to avoid bloating.

I was researching this yesterday because my mom started taking it for digestion. Scientifically, it's zero-calorie fiber, so it cannot add fat to your body. Any immediate heavy feeling is usually just the fiber expanding with water in your stomach, which goes away quickly.
