Can pregnancy tests show a false positive?

My pregnancy test result was faintly positive, but my period started a few days later, which was very confusing. My friend said sometimes tests can be wrong. Can pregnancy tests sometimes show a false positive?

True false positives are extremely rare, but they can happen due to certain medications, fertility treatments, or kit errors like reading it after the specified time limit. If you see a positive line, please do not rely only on the home kit. Visit your gynecologist immediately and get a blood test done to ensure everything is fine.

Hey there! Usually, a line is a line, so false positives are very uncommon unless the test was left lying around for too long. If you saw a positive, congratulations might be in order! Go get a doctor's checkup done to celebrate safely.

Look, if the test is positive, 99% of the time you are pregnant because the body doesn't produce that hormone for no reason. Don't waste time looking up exceptions online. Just go to a clinic, get a blood test, and let the doctor confirm it.

I had a false positive once because of an evaporation line that appeared after the test dried, and it was emotionally devastating for us. It is incredibly painful when your hopes get built up like that. Please make sure you read the result strictly within the 5-minute window to avoid this heartbreak.

Haan yaar, false positive tabhi hota hai jab kit kharab ho ya phir medicine chal rahi ho. But normally positive matlab positive hi hota hai, samjhe na? Ek baar phir se check kar lo kisi dusri company ki kit se dhyan se.

My mother used to tell me that home tests can sometimes show wrong results if the body is overheated or if the kit is old. While home kits are quite advanced now, it is always safest to trust a proper ultrasound or blood test done under a doctor's supervision to confirm the pregnancy.

False positives are almost non-existent unless you are taking hCG injections for fertility. What people usually confuse for a false positive is either an evaporation line or a very early miscarriage (chemical pregnancy). Go get a quantitative beta-hCG blood test done to know the exact status.
