Can pregnancy pills stop your period?

I've heard that some pregnancy pills or morning-after pills can delay or completely stop your period. Is this true? If someone takes them, will their period stop?

If you mean emergency contraceptive pills, yes, they completely mess up your cycle and can delay your period by a week or more. Instead of worrying and wasting money on multiple expensive home tests, just buy a basic strip test after 10 days of delay. It's much cheaper and gives you a clear answer.

Oh god, taking those hormonal pills always makes me so nervous because my period gets delayed and then I start worrying if I am actually pregnant. The anxiety itself can delay your cycle further, which is a horrible loop! Please talk to a doctor to get a blood test if you are really stressed.

Yes, emergency pills contain a high dose of hormones that temporarily stop ovulation, which naturally delays or alters your period. Don't panic if your bleeding is lighter or later than usual this month. For the future, it's much safer to use regular protection rather than putting your body through these heavy hormonal shifts.

Hey, don't stress too much about this! Those emergency pills are loaded with hormones, so they definitely throw your cycle off track for a bit. Just take a deep breath, watch a movie, and give your body a few days to adjust.

When my partner took the morning-after pill, her period got delayed by almost twelve days and we were extremely stressed. We ended up doing two home tests just to be sure, and thankfully both were negative. It seems these pills really do disrupt the usual cycle quite a bit.

It is completely normal for emergency contraceptive pills to delay your period because they alter your natural hormone levels to prevent pregnancy. There is no need to panic right now. Just monitor your body calmly and if the delay goes beyond two weeks, visit a doctor to be safe.
