Can pregnancy cause pimples?

My skin has suddenly broken out with a lot of pimples, especially on my chin and forehead, since I got pregnant. I thought pregnancy makes your skin glow, not break out! Can pregnancy cause acne or pimples?

Oh god, I freaked out so badly when my face broke out in the first trimester! I thought my skin was ruined forever, but it actually settled down later. Honestly, it is just hormones acting up and it is completely normal, so please do not stress.

My doctor at Manipal Hospital told me that pregnancy acne is super common because of the surge in progesterone. Just make sure you ask your gynae about what creams are safe to use. Don't start self-treating with random face washes.

Yes, hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy often trigger acne. While there are plenty of over-the-counter options, many standard acne treatments aren't safe during pregnancy. It is always best to consult your obstetrician or a dermatologist before applying anything.

I was actually reading up on this recently for my sister. Apparently, the increased blood flow and sebum production in the first few months makes breakouts really common. It's wild how much the body changes during this time!

Yaar, don't stress too much about these stupid pimples! It is just your hormones doing a party inside. Keep your face clean, drink lots of water, and remember that you are glowing anyway. This phase will pass very soon, trust me!

Having dealt with PCOS acne for years, I know how frustrating hormonal skin can be. During pregnancy, those hormones shift even more. Just be very cautious and check with your doc before trying any active skincare ingredients, as many aren't safe right now.

My cousin sister is pregnant right now and she was literally ranting about this yesterday. She has never had pimples in her life and now her forehead is full of them. Seems like it's a very standard thing that happens to most people.

Your skin is reflecting the internal heat and hormonal shifts of this beautiful journey. Try to practice gentle pranayama like Shitali to cool your system down. Drink simple coconut water and do not put harsh chemical soaps on your face.

When my wife had severe breakouts during her first trimester, our doctor explained that androgen levels rise, causing the skin glands to produce more oil. He strictly advised us against using salicylic acid or retinoids. He suggested sticking to a very basic, soap-free cleanser.

I completely understand how depressing this can feel. I used to cry looking in the mirror because my cystic acne got so bad during my second month. Please know you are not alone and your body is doing some amazing work right now, so try to be gentle with yourself.
