Can pregnancy cause migraines?

I never used to get migraines, but in the last couple of months, I've had a few really intense headaches that make me feel sick. I'm pregnant right now, and I'm wondering if this is related. Can pregnancy trigger migraines in women who haven't had them before?

Yes, estrogen fluctuations during pregnancy can definitely trigger migraines, especially in the first trimester. I found that keeping a cool damp cloth on my forehead and drinking lots of fluids really helped. Definitely mention it to your gynecologist.

Please do not ignore severe or new-onset migraines during pregnancy. If they are accompanied by blurred vision, sudden swelling, or high blood pressure, it can be a sign of a serious complication. You must consult your doctor immediately.

Don't try self-medicating or using random herbal balms you read about online for migraines. Many headache medications are strictly unsafe during pregnancy. Get your symptoms evaluated properly by your doctor for safe treatment.

Haan beta, the body goes through so many changes during pregnancy, which can cause severe headaches. Don't sit in the hot sun and take proper rest. Please go and show your doctor so they can give you a safe medicine.

Haan na, hormones play so much havoc during this time, so migraines can definitely happen. I had such a bad headache in my second month. Do not take any strong medicine without asking, just rest in a quiet room and talk to your doc.

Yes, migraines can definitely happen due to the sudden shift in hormones and blood flow. But do not take any over-the-counter painkillers on your own, as they can harm the baby. Go to your clinic and let your doctor prescribe something safe.

I tried everything from lavender oil to ginger tea when I had migraines during my pregnancy, but honestly, only resting in a dark room with a cold compress worked. Please make sure to discuss this with your gynecologist before trying any active home remedies.

Migraines can often be triggered by dehydration or skipping meals during pregnancy. Make sure you are eating balanced meals at regular intervals and drinking plenty of water. Please check with your doctor before taking any supplements or medications.
