Can pregnancy cause lactose intolerance?

Before pregnancy, I could drink milk without any problem, but now whenever I have dairy, I get stomach discomfort and bloating. My friend said this happened to her too. Can pregnancy actually cause a temporary lactose intolerance?

Actually yaar, my wife faced this exact thing during her second trimester. She suddenly couldn't digest her morning milk at all and got crazy bloating. The doctor said pregnancy hormones can temporarily mess up your gut enzymes.

Yes! Pregnancy is basically your body's way of saying 'let's change all your favorite foods into enemies.' Suddenly, even a glass of milk makes your stomach behave like a thunderstorm. Don't worry, it usually goes back to normal after delivery.

Look, pregnancy completely rewires your digestive system because of the high progesterone. If milk is causing you gas and loose motions, stop drinking it immediately. Get your calcium from other sources and tell your doctor.

I developed a temporary aversion and sensitivity to dairy during my first pregnancy. Switching to almond milk and curd for my calcium intake really helped me. You should discuss your digestion issues with your OB-GYN.

Yes, temporary lactose sensitivity can definitely happen during pregnancy due to changes in gut flora and slower digestion. Try using lactose-free milk or curd, which is easier on the stomach. Always consult your doctor to ensure you are getting enough calcium.

Beta, in our days we used to have fresh curd or buttermilk if sweet milk did not suit the stomach during pregnancy. It is very gentle on the belly. But do not force yourself to drink milk if it causes pain, and ask your doctor.

No need to buy expensive imported lactose-free products. Just switch to fresh homemade dahi or paneer, which are much easier to digest and still give you all the calcium. Ask your doctor if you need a calcium tablet instead.

My sister completely stopped drinking milk when she was pregnant because it gave her crazy bloating. She just ate a lot of curd instead. It is pretty common from what she told me, so don't stress.

Oh god, I would panic so much if I suddenly couldn't drink milk during pregnancy, especially with everyone telling us to drink milk for the baby's bones! Please call your doctor and ask if you need calcium supplements instead, just to be absolutely safe.

Imagine craving milk cake but your stomach says no! Yes, pregnancy can make you lactose intolerant out of nowhere. Try having vegan milk options or just stick to delicious cheese and curd if they suit you, and consult your doctor.

I didn't know pregnancy could make someone lactose intolerant. Does this happen right from the first month, or does it start later on? Maybe I should ask my doctor during my next prenatal scan.

Yes, gut changes during pregnancy can cause temporary lactose issues. Instead of wasting time trying to force milk, just substitute it with soy milk or yogurt for now. Let your gynecologist know in your next regular checkup.

With my PCOS history, dairy already caused me some inflammation, and pregnancy made me completely lactose intolerant. It is a common hormonal response. Please consult your doctor before making any major changes to your prenatal diet.

I know how upsetting it is when your body suddenly rejects foods you have had your whole life. I was so worried about my baby's health when I couldn't digest milk anymore. But my doctor reassured me and guided me on alternative foods, so please talk to yours.

My wife faced this exact issue last year. She couldn't even look at milk without feeling nauseous and bloated. The doctor told her to stop milk and started her on daily calcium tablets, which solved the problem completely.
