Can pregnancy cause insomnia?

It's getting so hard to fall asleep and stay asleep these days, even though I'm so tired. I'm pregnant, and my friend joked that I'm already getting prepared for sleepless nights with the baby. Does pregnancy actually cause insomnia?

My bhabhi literally stays up till 4 AM every night because of this. She says she just cannot find a comfortable sleeping position with her baby bump. Seems like a super common thing during the later months.

Insomnia is quite common, but please do keep an eye on your thyroid levels as well. My sleep issues got much worse during pregnancy because my TSH levels fluctuated. Make sure you get regular blood tests and follow up with your doctor.

My wife couldn't sleep at all during her third trimester. She used to get up and walk around the house or read books. Getting a pregnancy C-shaped pillow helped her get a few hours of comfortable sleep, you can try that.

Yes, anxiety, hormonal changes, and physical discomfort frequently lead to insomnia during pregnancy. While sleep hygiene practices like avoiding screens before bed can help, you should consult your gynecologist before taking any over-the-counter sleep aids.

Having PCOS meant my sleep was already erratic, and pregnancy hormones made the insomnia much more intense. It is very common but please do not take any herbal teas or sleep supplements without checking with your doctor first.

Yes, absolutely! Between the frequent bathroom trips and the baby throwing a midnight dance party in your belly, sleep goes for a toss. Try listening to some calming music and don't stress too much about the clock!
