Can pregnancy cause heart palpitations?

Sometimes, my heart feels like it's racing or fluttering, especially when I lie down or get up quickly. I'm pregnant, and my mother told me her heart also felt different during her pregnancies. Can pregnancy cause heart palpitations?

Yes, your heart is literally pumping for two now, so it occasionally acts like it is running a marathon while you are just sitting on the sofa! It is super common, but don't ignore it if you feel dizzy. Just let your doc know.

My cousin used to get these sudden fast heartbeats when she was pregnant. She said her doctor told her it happens because the body has to circulate way more blood than usual. Definitely worth bringing up at your next checkup.

An increase in heart rate is perfectly normal during pregnancy as your blood volume goes up by almost fifty percent. However, if you feel any chest pain, shortness of breath, or extreme dizziness with it, get to a hospital immediately. Otherwise, mention it at your regular consult.

I tracked my resting heart rate during pregnancy, and it jumped up by about fifteen beats per minute, which can feel like palpitations. Hormones and increased blood supply are the culprits. Keep an eye on it and discuss it with your gynecologist.

My mother-in-law told me to drink warm milk and rest when my heart started racing during my pregnancy. It did help me calm down, but I still informed my doctor during the scan. It is always best to trust the medical advice.

Since I manage high blood pressure, I know how scary sudden heart flutters can be. Pregnancy puts extra load on your cardiovascular system, so keeping an eye on your salt intake and regular BP checks is vital. Do get it checked by your doctor.

When my wife experienced palpitations, we immediately went to her hospital and asked the cardiologist. They did an ECG and said it is normal during pregnancy, but they strictly told us never to guess with heart symptoms. Please ask your doctor clearly.
