Can pregnancy cause hair loss?

I've noticed a lot more hair falling out in my comb and shower drain since my baby was born a few months ago. My mum said it happens after pregnancy to many women. Does pregnancy or postpartum really cause hair loss?

In my time, we used to say that hair becomes very thick during pregnancy and falls after delivery, but sometimes stress or low iron can cause hair fall even during those nine months. Don't worry, child. Eat well, take your prenatal vitamins, and everything will settle down.

I completely understand how scary it is to see chunks of hair in the shower, especially when everyone says pregnancy makes your hair glow. I panicked so much when it happened to me. Please get your thyroid and iron levels checked by your doctor, as that is often the trigger.

Yes, nutritional deficiencies or sudden hormonal shifts can cause hair thinning during pregnancy. Make sure your protein intake is adequate and you are regular with your prescribed supplements. Avoid any harsh chemical hair treatments for now and consult your gynaecologist.

Don't run behind expensive hair serums or salon treatments right now. Usually, it is just a lack of iron or some vitamin gap. Just talk to your doctor, they will check your blood reports and probably change your multi-vitamin brand. Keep it simple.

Honestly, between the sleepless nights and the baby kicking, seeing hair fall out is just another wonderful surprise. My wife had this too, we thought she was going bald! Turns out it was just a temporary phase and her doctor adjusted her vitamins.
