Can pregnancy cause gas?

Oh my god, the amount of gas I have since I got pregnant is crazy! It's so embarrassing sometimes, and I feel constantly bloated. Is increased gas production a normal part of being pregnant?

Yes, progesterone levels rise during pregnancy which relaxes all your muscles, including the digestive tract, leading to a lot of gas and bloating. While light walking can help, it is always best to consult your doctor before taking any antacids or gas tablets.

Oh absolutely, you basically become a walking gas balloon during those nine months! Progesterone slows down your digestion so much that even water feels like it is fermenting. Just laugh it off and keep some ajwain water handy.

Gas is very common, but please do monitor it closely. If the bloating comes with severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or if you can't keep any food down, don't ignore it. It is always safer to describe your exact symptoms to your gynecologist.

As digestion slows down significantly during pregnancy, gas is bound to happen. Try to have small, frequent meals and avoid lying down immediately after eating. If it gets too uncomfortable, ask your doctor for a pregnancy-safe digestive aid.

My sister was complaining about this constantly during her pregnancy, she said she felt bloated 24/7. Apparently it is totally normal because of all the hormonal changes. Just try eating smaller meals instead of huge ones.
